ALEX SWEET, JR, LOUISVILLE, KY./KENTUCKY COUNTRY DAY

A junior swimmer from Louisville, Ky., Sweet helped lead the W&L men's swimming team to an eighth-place finish at the NCAA Division III Championships over the weekend by earning seven All-America citations and setting five new school records. Individually, Sweet earned First Team All-America honors in the 100 free by placing sixth overall with a school-record time of 45.24. He also garnered Honorable Mention All-America laurels by placing 13th in the 50 free (20.94) and 14th in the 200 free (1:41.92). Sweet also competed on three relay teams that garnered First Team All-America honors and one relay team that received Honorable Mention All-America recognition. He swam on the 200 free relay team that placed second with a school-record time of 1:21.64, was a part of the 800 free relay team that finished third with a school-record time of 6:44.57 and was part of the 400 free relay team that set a record (3:03.80) in placing sixth overall. Finally, Sweet swam a leg of the 400 medley relay team that set a new school record in the prelims (3:26.85) and finished 15th overall (3:29.36) in the finals.
