About the Facility Opened August 22, 2002 39 pieces of Cardiovascular Training Equipment 32 pieces of selecterized Body Master Strength training machines Amenities Washington and Lee University Fitness Center is a brand new state-of-the-art complex, integrated in a 1900’s colonial refurbished building . The facility is for use of the entire university community; students, faculty, staff, and student athletes to benefit in all aspects of health and fitness. The structure itself is an architectural marvel. The “T-Shaped” lay out allows all user groups to work in undisturbed unity. Originally built in 1914, the refurbishing project enabled the complex to keep its tall colonial white pillars and columns which give the Fitness Center a very distinctive and unique style intertwined with the new state-of-the-art equipment. The cardiovascular area includes a variety of equipment (thirty-eight pieces) to meet the diverse needs of the university community. Six - 27inch TVs with cardio-theater, cable, DVD and VHS capabilities helps the time fly by for everyone utilizing the equipment. Also at the base of the ‘T-shaped’ facility are thirty-two pieces of selectorized Body Master strength training machines. The top the “T” compromises the Free-weight / Power Training area including 33 pieces of training equipment, which is highlighted by six- Nebula power platforms and over 13,000 lbs of bumper and plate weight.
