Strength and Conditioning Program Objectives of the Washington and Lee University strength and conditioning program are to minimize the risk of injury and enhance physical and mental parameters while improving sport performance in a positive upbeat, yet non-intimidating environment.
The mission of the Washington and Lee University strength and conditioning program is to provide a safe and positive training environment that allows coaches and student-athletes to work together towards developing the full physical and mental potential of each student-athlete. The staff will design year round training programs that increase each student-athletes level of strength, power, speed, agility, sport-specific endurance, flexibility, and postural awareness.
Strength training programs will combine functional weight training exercises with explosive Olympic lifts and plyometrics. All core weight training exercises are free-weight, ground-based, and multi-joint oriented. Speed, Agility, Quickness and Conditioning programs are administered throughout specific phases of the year to bring about peak performance. Sport specific programs are tailored to each sport and athletes’ individual needs utilizing our five-step sport management system.
