This will mark the first meetings between the two teams on Wilson Field since the 2001 season when W&L recorded a 27-6 victory. The prior two contests have been played in Greensboro after the game was switched in the schedule from the second week of the season to the seventh week.

THE HEAD COACHES:
Frank Miriello (East Stroudsburg '67) is in his 10th season as the head coach at W&L and his 36th year of coaching. He claims a 44-50-1 (.468) overall record. Miriello is third all-time in victories at W&L and needs five more wins to overtake Lee McLaughlin for second place. He is 4-5 all-time against Guilford. The Quakers are led by 14th-year Head Coach Mike Ketchum (Guilford '78), who is 52-82 (.388) overall at his alma mater. Ketchum ranks second all-time in victories at Guilford and has twice been named the ODAC Coach of the Year (1991, 1997). He is 7-6 all-time against the Generals.

ALL-TIME RECORD:
W&L has compiled a 426-476-39 (.474) all-time record. The Generals have been linked to the first intercollegiate football game played in the south, an 1873 matchup with VMI.

LAST TIME OUT:
(H-SC 31, W&L 28; October 16, 2004 - Lexington, Va.)

Washington and Lee sophomore wide receiver Colton Ward recorded 263 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns, but it was not enough as the Generals fell to 22nd-ranked Hampden-Sydney, 31-28, on Saturday at Wilson Field. W&L fought back from a 31-14 deficit late in the third quarter on a pair of Ward touchdowns, one coming on a 31-yard reception and another on a 6-yard run with 3:51 remaining in the game. W&L forced a Tiger punt on the ensuing possession and took over on the 50-yard line with 50 seconds remaining, but junior quarterback Greg Tweardy was intercepted on the first play of the series, allowing Hampden-Sydney to run out the clock for the victory. The Tigers racked up 467 yards of total offense led by junior quarterback J.D. Ricca, who completed 17-of-30 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns. Senior tailback C.W. Clemmons rushed for 118 yards and one touchdown on 29 carries, while junior wide receiver Brian Rolander caught five passes for 153 yards, including a 63-yard touchdown reception from Ricca. Junior linebacker Wes Hall paced the Tigers' defense with five tackles. Ward led the Generals with his career day, which included an 80-yard kickoff return for a touchdown. He caught six passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns, rushed four times for eight yards, and totaled 143 yards on four kickoff returns, just three shy of the school record. Tweardy completed 21-of-37 passes for 205 yards and two touchdowns, but was intercepted twice. Senior nose tackle Chris Caramore led the defense with nine tackles and 1.5 sacks.

WHEN LAST WE MET:
(GC 34, W&L 7; October 25, 2003 - Greensboro, N.C.)

Guilford College surged out to a 14-0 lead in the opening 5:46 of the game and extended its lead late for a 34-7 win over Washington and Lee. The Quakers opened the scoring with a 1-yard touchdown run by running back Micah Rushing just 4:52 into the game, then extended to 14-0 on a 36-yard fumble return by cornerback Jason Allen just 54 seconds later. After a 37-yard field goal by GC placekicker Travis Frazier on the opening possession of the second half, the Generals climbed to within 17-7 with 28 seconds remaining in the third quarter on a 1-yard touchdown run by senior quarterback Peter Dean. However, Guilford added a 2-yard touchdown reception by tight end CJ Graham, a 36-yard field goal by Frazier and a 20-yard fumble return for a touchdown by linebacker Mario Paylor in the fourth period for the 27-point win. SCOUTING GUILFORD:
Guilford is 0-6 overall, 0-2 in the ODAC following a 63-7 loss to Bridgewater on Saturday in Greensboro, N.C. The Quakers surrendered 28 points in the opening quarter and trailed 49-7 at the break. For the game, Guilford converted just one of 13 third-down conversions and turned the ball over four times. Sophomore quarterback Chris Gammon led the Quakers' offense, completing 10-of-17 passes for 78 yards and one touchdown. He also rushed six times for a team-high 11 yards. Senior strong safety Chase Waterhouse leads the team with 46 tackles, while senior defensive end Delvin Newkirk claims 30 tackles and a team-high three sacks.

WHAT CAN YOU SAY ABOUT -- ZERO:
The Generals defense has plenty to say about the word zero. More importantly, the number 0. With a 22-0 victory over Catholic on Oct. 9, the Generals produced their second straight shutout and third of the season. It marked the first time that a W&L team had recorded back-to-back shutouts since the 1982 season and also was the first time that W&L had produced three shutouts in a season since the 1967 campaign. W&L is allowing just 13.7 points per game and is outscoring ODAC opposition, 67-31, this season.

ON THE DEFENSIVE:
Though the Generals allowed season-highs in total offense (467) and points (31) to Hampden-Sydney on Saturday, the W&L defense still ranks among the stiffest in the ODAC this season. The Generals still lead the ODAC in scoring defense (13.7 ppg.), rush defense (55.5), total defense (261.3), first downs allowed (86), sacks (32) and fourth down conversions (15.4 percent). Additionally, the Generals rank second in the ODAC in passing defense efficiency (111.8 rating) and red zone defense (35.7 percent).

SACK PARTY:
W&L has posted 32 sacks this season, a total which has already doubled that of last season. W&L has twice set a school record for sacks in a game (9 vs. Sewanee, 10 vs. Macon), and has notched no fewer than two sacks in a game this season. The W&L record for sacks in a season is 35 set during the 1995 season. All told, 10 different players have gotten to the quarterback this season, led by sophomore linebacker Robert Foster's eight sacks.

FOSTERING ATTENTION:
Sophomore linebacker Robert Foster has been fostering plenty of attention with his play this season. Not yet a full-time starter at outside linebacker, Foster has been having a monster season highlighted by his play against Macon when he totaled eight tackles, a school-record tying five sacks, one interception and one forced fumble. For the season, Foster has tallied 22 tackles, eight sacks, two interceptions, two pass breakups, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.

EAT, DRINK AND BE MURRAY:
Junior Liam Murray is having a stellar junior season playing the defensive end position. Murray is currently leads the ODAC in tackles per game (8.8) and tackles for loss per game (2.00). Murray has also totaled three sacks on the season.

ON THE OFFENSIVE:
Sophomore wide receiver Colton Ward had another outstanding performance last week, totaling 263 all-purpose yards and four touchdowns against Hampden-Sydney. He caught six passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns, rushed four times for eight yards and a score, and returned a kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown. Ward's 143 return yards were just three off the school record. Ward's monster week came just one game after earning ODAC Player of the Week honors for his performance against Catholic, which included 135 all-purpose yards and another touchdown. Over the past two weeks, Ward has caught 17 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns, rushed eight times for 42 yards and two touchdowns, an averaged 32 yards per kickoff return and another score.

CLIMBING THE LADDER:
Senior wide receiver Taylor Callaham is capping a stellar career with an outstanding senior season. Callaham currently leads the ODAC in receptions per game (5.67 rpg.) and ranks sixth in receiving yards per game (62.0 ypg.). For his career, Callaham ranks seventh all-time in receptions (107), ninth in receiving yards (1,325) and sixth in receiving touchdowns (10).

SHOW ME THAT FOUR:
The Generals have loved seeing a four on the sideline down marker this season. W&L has stopped its' opponents on fourth down 11 times this season (2-of-13), while the Generals' offense has converted 5-of-7 fourth downs.

SHARING THE PIGSKIN:
Junior quarterback Greg Tweardy has been spreading the pigskin around this season as 12 different players have recorded at least one catch. Additionally, five different players have caught 10 or more passes led by senior wide receivers Taylor Callaham (34) and John Barnwell (21). The latest General to enter the receiving column was freshman wideout Jack Martin who caught a 12-yard strike against Hampden-Sydney.

THE DROUGHT:
After stringing together 10 consecutive games with an interception, the Generals defense has gone without a pick for the each of the past two games. However, W&L has managed to recover five fumbles against Catholic and Hampden-Sydney, and has managed to force an average of 2.83 turnovers per game. The Generals currently lead the ODAC in turnover margin (+6).
