W&L’S CHIP CAMPBELL FINISHES TIED FOR 102nd AT NCAA GOLF CHAMPIONSHIPS

DELAWARE, Ohio -- Washington and Lee senior Chip Campbell (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) finished in a tie for 102nd place at the NCAA Division III Golf Championships held at the Dornoch Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio.

Campbell shot an 80 in Thursday’s final round to finish the championship with a total of 78-84-77-80--319.

Averett’s Janne Mommo was the individual medalist, posting a 75-65-69-72-281. In all, 120 golfers were competing for the NCAA Individual Championship.

Averett also claimed the team championship, posting a score of 303-291-296-285--1175.

Campbell finished the 2002-03 season with a 76.2 stroke average over 22 rounds.

After shooting a 78-84--162 in the opening two rounds, Campbell fired a 77 during the third round for a total of 239. Averett’s Janne Mommo is the individual leader, posting a 75-65-69--209. In all, 120 golfers are competing for the NCAA Individual Championship.

Wesley lead the team standings, having carded a three-day score of 881.

Final round action will continue tomorrow starting at 8:00 am.

After shooting a 78 in the opening round, Campbell fired an 84 during the second round for a two-day total of 162. He currently trails Averett’s Janne Mommo, the individual leader, by 22 strokes heading into tomorrow’s third round of action. In all, 120 golfers are competing for the NCAA Individual Championship.

Averett and Wesley lead the team standings, each having carded a two-day score of 594.

Third round action will continue tomorrow starting at 8:00 am.

DELAWARE, Ohio -- Washington and Lee senior Chip Campbell (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) is tied for 45th after the first round at the NCAA Division III Golf Championships held at the Dornoch Golf Club in Delaware, Ohio.

Campbell fired a seven-over-par 78 and trails day one leader, Wesley’s Anthony Apolostico, by eight strokes heading into tomorrow’s second round. In all, 120 golfers are competing for the NCAA Individual Championship.

Wesley also leads the team standings, posting an eight-over-par 292. The Wolverines are followed by Averett (303), Denison (303), Gustavus Adolphus (303) and Central (304).

Campbell will tee off in tomorrow’s final grouping between 12:50 pm and 1:30 pm.
