W&L MEN'S BASKETBALL FALLS TO RANDOLPH-MACON IN ODAC QUARTERFINALS SALEM, Va. The eighth-seeded Washington and Lee mens
basketball team had its season ended with a 69-36 loss to top-seeded Randolph-Macon
in the ODAC Quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon at the Salem Civic Center. -- GENERALS -- W&L MENS BASKETBALL FALLS TO BRIDGEWATER,
73-53 LEXINGTON, Va. -- Bridgewater ended the first half on a 16-4 run and
never looked back in defeating Washington and Lee, 73-53, in ODAC mens
basketball action on Tuesday evening at the Warner Center. The Generals (7-17, 4-14) led by seven points (18-11) with 7:30 remaining
in the opening stanza before the Eagles used their run to take a 27-22
halftime lead. W&L fought back to knot the game at 33-33 with 14:56 remaining, but
Bridgewater (17-8, 11-7) surged on a 14-2 run over the next 7:45 to take
a 12-point lead (47-35) and never trailed by more than 10 points the rest
of the way. The Generals were led by freshman forward Mike Stuart (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier),
who tallied 12 points. Sophomore guard Michael Denbow (Louisville, Ky./St.
Xavier) registered a career-high 11 points and six assists, while junior
guard Toussaint Crawford (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) added 10 points. Bridgewater was paced by senior forward Kyle Williford (Raleigh, N.C./Leesville
Road), who notched 19 points and 11 rebounds. Senior guard Matt Stevens
(Bridgewater, Va./Turner Ashby) and freshman guard Ricky Easterling (Baltimore,
Md./Dundalk) added 11 points each. Washington and Lee will be in action again on Saturday as it takes on
top-seeded Randolph-Macon in the opening round of the ODAC Tournament.

61-53 LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior forward Scott Hettermann (Falls Church, Va./Landon)
recorded 19 points, 10 rebounds and three assists to help lead Washington
and Lee past Mary Washington, 61-53, in mens basketball action on
Thursday evening at the Warner Center. The Generals (7-15), who had a season-low eight turnovers, began the
game on a 14-2 run and led by five points (28-23) at the break. However,
the Eagles used a 16-2 run midway through the second half to assume a
46-39 advantage with 10:13 remaining in the game. At that point, W&L
surged on a 17-3 run over the next eight minutes to assume a 56-49 lead
with 2:04 remaining and held on for the eight-point win. Freshman forward Mike Stuart (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier) was the only other
W&L player in double figures with 17 points. Sophomore guard Michael
Denbow (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) recorded a career-high nine assists
and just one turnover. Mary Washington (7-14) was paced by junior guard Cris Hairston (Bassett,

Tigers outscored Washington and Lee 54-31 in the second half to erase

62-60 LEXINGTON, Va. -- Freshman guard Ian McClure (Louisville, Ky./DuPont
Manual) hit a layup with :00.5 seconds remaining to lift Washington and
Lee to a 62-60 win over Emory & Henry in ODAC mens basketball
action at the Warner Center on Wednesday evening. The Generals (5-14, 3-11) led by 10 points (36-26) at the break and did
not trail until 2:24 remained in the ball game when E&H freshman forward
Brandon Stanley (Lynchburg, Va./Heritage) sunk a layup. The game would
feature five ties from that point on until McClures layup fell. Junior guard John Warren (Greenville, S.C./Wade Hampton) led W&L
with 13 points, all in the first half. McClure totaled 11 points, a career-high
five rebounds, and three assists. The Wasps (11-9, 5-8) were paced by Stanley, who tallied 16 points, 13
of which came in the second half of play. He also grabbed seven rebounds.
Sophomore guard Israel Long (Pulaski, Va./Pulaski County) notched 11 points
on 4-of-6 shooting from the floor. The Generals outrebounded E&H, 43-31, but hit just 14-of-29 free throws, including only 8-of-17 in the second half. The Wasps went scoreless from the three-point line, missing each of its 16 attempts from beyond the arc.
-- GENERALS -- W&L MENS BASKETBALL FALLS TO ROANOKE IN OVERTIME,
76-69 LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee mens basketball team fell
to 4-14 overall, 2-11 in the ODAC after a 76-69 overtime loss to Roanoke
on Saturday evening at the Warner Center. The Generals led by as many as 11 points (17-6) in the first half and
never trailed until the 13:19 mark of the second half (38-37). W&L
again pulled away and surged to a six-point lead (48-42) with 6:43 remaining
in the regulation before the Maroons would again take the lead at 50-49
with 3:57 left in the second period. Two two teams would exchange the lead several times before Roanoke assumed
a three-point lead (58-55) with 25 seconds remaining. W&L forced the
overtime period as junior forward Scott Hettermann (Falls Church, Va./Landon),
who returned after missing two games with an ankle injury, hit and layup
and was fouled with 17 seconds remaining. The Maroons could not manage
a shot and the two teams headed to overtime. The two teams exchanged the lead three times in the first 2:09 of the
overtime before the Maroons went on a 6-0 run to assume a 70-63 lead that
they would not relinquish. Hettermann led the Generals with 17 points and seven rebounds. Junior
guard Toussaint Crawford (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) tied a season-high
with 16 points, while freshman forward Mike Stuart (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier)
added 15 markers. Roanoke (12-7, 7-5) was led by junior guard Robby Pridgen (Akron, Ohio/St.
Vincent-St. Mary), who scored a game-high 24 points, including eight points
in the final 4:00 of regulation. Senior guard Jaimar Mansel (Akron, Ohio/St.
Vincent-St. Mary) and junior guard Josh Foster (Roanoke, Va./Roanoke Valley
Christian) each tallied 13 points. For the game, the Maroons were 25-of-29 from the foul line, including
12-of-13 in the overtime period. The Generals were 15-of-26 from the charity

Wednesday evenings 76-75 loss at Emory & Henry. -- GENERALS -- W&L MENS BASKETBALL FALLS TO TOP-RANKED RANDOLPH-MACON,
62-39 LEXINGTON, Va. -- Top-ranked Randolph-Macon used a 26-6 run during the
second half to defeat Washington and Lee, 62-39, in ODAC mens basketball
action on Monday evening at the Warner Center. The game was knotted at 22-22 at the break and the Yellow Jackets held
a 29-27 lead with 16:37 remaining. R-MC began its run at the 15:07 mark
and finished with a 55-33 lead with 2:58 left in the contest. The Yellow
Jackets shot 60.9 percent in the second half and forced 13 W&L second
half turnovers. The Generals (4-12, 2-9) were led by freshman center Mark Franceski (Moscow,
Pa./North Pocono), who tallied eight points and a career-high eight rebounds.
Sophomore forward Hamill Jones (Richmond, Va./St. Christophers),
sophomore guard Michael Denbow (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) and junior
guard Toussaint Crawford (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) all notched
seven points for W&L. Randolph-Macon (15-2, 10-0) was paced by junior guard Tim Smith (Jacksonville,

67-50 LEXINGTON, Va. -- Virginia Wesleyan held Washington and Lee to 26.5 percent
shooting from the floor and held a 47-28 advantage on the boards in defeating
the Generals, 67-50, in ODAC mens basketball action on Sunday evening. The Marlins (9-7, 7-3) led by eight points (27-19) at the break, but
W&L would slice the lead to one point (29-28) on a dunk by junior
guard Toussaint Crawford (Laurel, Md./St. Vincent Pallotti) with 17:04
remaining. However, VWC outscored the Generals, 23-8, over the next 8:21
to take a commanding 52-36 lead. W&L never threatened from that point
on. Washington and Lee (4-11, 2-8) was paced by freshman center Mark Franceski
(Moscow, Pa./North Pocono), who tied a career-high with 13 points. In
addition, he grabbed five rebounds and blocked four shots. Sophomore forward

16 points to lead Hampden-Sydney to a 78-51 win over Washington and Lee
in ODAC mens basketball action on Sunday afternoon at the Warner
Center. Holding an 18-10 lead with 6:43 remaining in the opening half, the Tigers
(13-1, 7-1) closed the half on a 19-5 run to take a 37-15 lead at the
break. W&L (4-9, 2-6) would not challenge from that point on. The Tigers shot 53.2 percent from the floor and outrebounded the Generals,
42-23, in the game. Freshman center Mark Franceski (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) led W&L
with 12 points on 6-of-7 shooting from the floor. Sophomore forward Hamill

E. Lee) tallied 21 points, seven rebounds and four steals to help lead
Lynchburg past Washington and Lee in ODAC mens basketball action
on Saturday afternoon at the Warner Center. The Generals (4-8, 2-5) led 37-30 at the break and held a 49-42 lead
with 13:57 remaining in the game. However, the Hornets used a 15-2 run
over the next 6:40 to take a 59-53 lead and never looked back in claiming
their first ODAC win of the season. W&L did slice the LC lead to 73-71 with seven seconds remaining,
but Saunders converted two free throws with six seconds left to seal the
win. Both teams displayed hot shooting in the contest as W&L shot 55.1
percent from the floor and Lynchburg hit 54.9 percent of its shots, including
65.4 percent in the second half. Washington and Lee was led by junior forward Scott Hettermann (Falls
Church, Va./Landon), who scored a career-high 25 points and grabbed seven
rebounds. Freshman guard Ian McClure (Louisville, Ky./DuPont Manual) added

for a 3:00 pm contest. -- GENERALS -- STUART LEADS GENERALS TO OVERTIME VICTORY OVER EASTERN
MENNONITE, 76-73 LEXINGTON, Va. -- Freshman forward Mike Stuart (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier)
scored a career-high 33 points to lead Washington and Lee to a 76-73 overtime
win over Eastern Mennonite in ODAC mens basketball action on Wednesday
evening at the Warner Center. Stuart was 11-of-16 from the floor and 7-of-10 from three-point range.
His seven three-pointers tied the school record for triples in a game,
a record held by three others. His 33 points are the most scored by a
W&L player since Cam Dyer tallied 41 points against Randolph-Macon
on Jan. 13, 1996. W&L (4-7, 2-4) led 36-23 at the half, however, the Royals outscored
the Generals 11-2 over the first 2:44 of the second half to cut the lead
to two points (38-36). W&L held its lead until the Royals took a 50-49
advantage with 8:13 remaining. The Generals regained the lead and held it until a layup by freshman
forward E.J. Arrington (Staunton, Va./Stuarts Draft) gave the Royals a
62-61 lead with 39 seconds remaining. W&L junior forward Scott Hettermann
(Falls Church, Va./Landon) tied the game by hitting 1-of-2 free throws
with 10 seconds remaining. Stuart recorded 12 points in the overtime period, including a pair of
three-pointers in the opening two minutes to give the Generals a six point
lead that they would not relinquish. W&L shot 55.3 percent (26-47) from the floor, but struggled from the free throw line where it was 14-of-31 (.452). Hettermann scored 17 points and junior guard John Warren (Greenville,

MENS HOOPS LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior center Aron McMillian (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro
Day) scored 20 points and grabbed a career-high 12 rebounds to lead Guilford
to a 64-55 win over Washington and Lee in ODAC mens basketball action
at the Warner Center on Wednesday evening. The Quakers (5-4, 2-2) jumped out to a 15-5 lead in the opening 4:51
of the game and extended their lead to as many as 16 points (38-22) in
the first half in leading 38-25 at the break. Guilford extended its lead to 19 points (57-38) with 7:11 remanining
in the contest, however, the Generals outscored the Quakers 17-7 the rest
of the way to provide the nine-point margin. Washington and Lee (3-6, 1-3) was led by junior forward Scott Hettermann
(Falls Church, Va./Landon), junior guard Toussaint Crawford (Laurel, Md./St.
Vincent Pallotti) and freshman forward Mike Stuart (Warrenton, Va./Fauquier),
who each scored 10 points. Hettermann also collected 10 rebounds and four

action on Wednesday evening at Nininger Hall. W&L grabbed its biggest lead of the game (23-19) with
1:54 left in the first half on a layup by freshman center Mark Franceski
(Moscow, Pa./North Pocono), but found itself trailing 25-23 at halftime
as Bridgewaters Brett Childers nailed a three-pointer with 34 seconds
left. --GENERALS-- FREEMAN LEADS GENERALS TO 57-55 WIN OVER VIRGINIA WESLEYAN NORFOLK, Va. -- Freshman forward Holton Freeman (Asheville, N.C./Carolina
Day) hit a three-pointer with five seconds remaining to lift Washington
and Lee to a 57-55 win over Virginia Wesleyan in ODAC mens basketball
action on Sunday afternoon. The Generals (3-4, 1-1) led by seven points (51-44) with 4:17 remaining
in the game; however, the Marlins fought back to take a one-point lead
(55-54) when junior forward Donnell Hammonds hit the front-end of a one-and-one
with 17 seconds remaining. Hammonds second foul shot was rebounded by
freshman center Mark Franceski (Moscow, Pa./North Pocono) setting up Freemans
heroics. Franceski then intercepted a VWC pass in the final seconds and
ran out the clock to preserve the victory. Washington and Lee was led by junior guard John Warren (Greenville, S.C./Wade
Hampton), who scored a career-high 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Freeman
totaled a career-high 14 points, hitting 3-of-4 three-point attempts. Virginia Wesleyan (3-3, 2-1) was led by senior guard James Wallace, who
scored 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. Sophomore forward
David Doino totaled 15 points and six rebounds. The Generals committed just 10 turnovers in the game and shot 51.2 percent
(22-43) from the floor. -- GENERALS -- W&L FALLS AT RANDOLPH-MACON, 82-64 ASHLAND, Va. -- Randolph-Macon used an 18-1 run to close
out the first half with a 46-29 lead and cruised to an 82-64 victory over
Washington and Lee in mens basketball action on Saturday afternoon. --GENERALS-- W&L FALLS TO DIVISION I WILLIAM AND MARY, 70-55 WILLIAMSBURG, Va. -- William and Mary used runs to begin
each half and defeated Washington and Lee, 70-55, in mens basketball
action on Wednesday evening. --GENERALS-- W&L MENS BASKETBALL EVENS RECORD AT 2-2 WITH 56-53 WIN OVER GREENSBORO LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee mens basketball
team evened its record at 2-2 on the season with a 56-53 win over Greensboro
College on Sunday afternoon at the Warner Center. The Generals (1-0), who led 24-22 at the half, extended
their lead to 14 points (51-37) with 5:58 remaining in the game. Trailing
by 10 points (51-41) with 2:38 remaining, the Pride went on a 12-3 run
over the next 2:16 to cut the W&L lead to one with 22 seconds remaining.
Following a pair of missed free throws by W&L sophomore
guard Michael Denbow (Louisville, Ky./St. Xavier) with 14 seconds remaining,
the Pride had a chance to take the lead with two seconds left, but sophomore
guard Marcellus Morgans (Creedmoor, N.C./South Granville) jumper
rimmed-out and W&L junior forward Jake McAlister (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo
Heights) grabbed the rebound with one second remaining. McAlister was
fouled and hit both free throws and GC sophomore forward Daron Williams
(Spruce Pine, N.C./Mitchell) missed a three-pointer at the buzzer as the
Generals claimed the win. Washington and Lee was led by junior forward Scott Hettermann
(Falls Church, Va./Landon), who tallied 11 points, nine rebounds and five

half to defeat Washington and Lee, 70-65, in mens basketball action
on Tuesday afternoon at the Warner Center. W&L held a 43-40 lead with 12:52 remaining, but the Wesley run gave
the Wolverines a 57-45 lead with 8:41 left. The Generals (1-2) fought
back to tie the game at 65-65 with 26 seconds remaining in the game on
a three-pointer by freshman forward Holton Freeman (Asheville, N.C./Carolina
Day). However, Wesley junior guard Jordan Henson (Rockville, Md./Rockville)
hit a triple of his own seven seconds later and freshman guard Pat Woods
(Lewes, Del./Cape Henlopen) nailed two free throws with seven seconds
remaining to seal the win. Washington and Lee was led by junior forward Scott Hettermann (Falls
Church, Va./Landon), who tallied 18 points, six rebounds, three assists
and three steals. Freeman added 12 points and two assists. For the game,
the Generals hit 11-of-24 three-point attempts, but committed 22 turnovers. Wesley (2-1) was paced by freshman center Jawara Stephensons (Cambridge,
Md./South Dorchester), 19-point, eight-rebound effort. Junior forward
Larry Bryant (Delton, Del./Lake Forest) added 17 points, five rebounds

team was defeated by Swarthmore, 70-63, in the second day of action at
the Equinox Classic on Saturday afternoon. The Generals, who defeated
Haverford 71-43 last night, were trying to open the season with consecutive
