In his second season with the Washington and Lee men's lacrosse coaching staff is Ricky Matthews.
Matthews was instrumental in the Generals' ODAC Championship run last season, coaching the faceoff men and assisting with the offense.

A 2000 graduate of Limestone College, Matthews served as an assistant coach with the Saints during the 2001 season, helping Limestone to an NCAA Division II runner-up finish.

As a coach at Limestone, Matthews served as the team's offensive coordinator and face-off unit coach, guiding the Saints' offense which ranked first in Division II in scoring.

As a player at Limestone, he had a hand in leading the Saints to the 2000 Division II National Championship. Matthews captained the 2000 squad and was named a USILA First Team All-American as a midfielder. Following the season, he was selected to participate in the USILA North-South game.

Matthews received a bachelor of science in sports management from Limestone and went on to play lacrosse professionally for the Ottawa Rebels of the National Lacrosse League. In June of 2001, Matthews was one of 143 players invited to try out for the U.S. National Lacrosse team.

Active in the sport, Matthews has also served an internship in the membership services department with U.S. Lacrosse.
