Wallace Named To First Team

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Four Generals were named to the All-South Atlantic Region Men's Soccer Teams that were announced on Wednesday afternoon by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Junior fullback Paul Wallace (Roanoke, Va./Patrick Henry) was named to the first team, sophomore goalkeeper Tim Foley (Darnestown, Md./Georgetown Prep) and junior forward Andrew Grimes (Lexington, Va./Henry Clay) earned second-team honors and sophomore fullback Paul Negron (Massapequa Park, N.Y./St. John the Baptist) was a third-team selection.

Wallace was named Second-Team NSCAA All-America and First-Team All-ODAC in leading his squad to a 19-2 overall record and a trip to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in W&L history. He tallied one goal and one assist on the season, including the game winner in overtime in the quarterfinal round of the ODAC Tournament.

Foley, a First-Team All-ODAC selection, started 15 games in the net for the Generals and recorded seven shutouts. He allowed just 11 goals in 1,438 minutes and has collected 81 saves for a save percentage of 0.880. He held a 0.69 goals-against average on the season, while his 0.76 career GAA is currently the lowest in school history.

After scoring five goals in the club's first three games, Grimes proved to be one of the ODAC's top scorers. He finished the season fourth in scoring with 14 goals and two assists for 30 points. The forward scored two goals in leading the Generals to their first-ever win in the NCAA Tournament over Frostburg State, 4-1.

Negron helped anchor a W&L defense that allowed just 0.62 goals per game. The sophomore defender helped Washington and Lee allow just 13 goals this season, a school record.
