Ruckert Named Player of the Year; Shelton Named Rookie of the Year

SALEM, Va. -- Washington and Lee claimed two selections to the All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference team announced on Friday afternoon. Junior middle blocker Lindsay Ruckert (Metairie, La./Sacred Heart) was named First Team All-ODAC as well as the Player of the Year, while freshman outside hitter Kristin Shelton (Austin, Texas/McCallum) was tabbed Second Team All-ODAC and the Rookie of the Year.

The First Team All-ODAC selection was the third straight for Ruckert. She was named the Player of the Year last year as well and was the Rookie of the Year as a freshman.

Ruckert leads the team with 265 kills and is second in hitting percentage (.268), aces (37), blocks (54), and digs (188).

Shelton, who was tragically killed in an automobile accident on Oct. 22, was leading the team in hitting percentage (.312) and blocks (47), and was second in kills (154).

Washington and Lee (18-9), the three-time defending ODAC Champion, begins its title defense this evening when it takes on Guilford College in the First Round of the ODAC Tournament.
