BALTIMORE, Md. -- US Lacrosse has announced that Washington and Lee senior attackman Matt Dugan (Rockaway, N.J./Mountain Lakes) and Tim Schurr, a 1984 W&L graduate, are among 143 men's lacrosse players who have been selected to tryout for the 2002 United States Men's Lacrosse team.
Dugan and Schurr were selected from a pool of 347 applicants and will showcase their skills at the University of Delaware on June 14-17. A total of 23 players will be selected to the team which will represent the United States in the International Lacrosse Federation World Championships in Perth, Austrailia in July of 2002.
Dugan earned First Team Division III All-American honors this season after scoring 63 points on 38 goals and 25 assists. He broke the W&L and ODAC career scoring records during the season (290 pts.) and also set a new W&L record for career goals (182).
Schurr, a defenseman, played in 44 career games for the Generals. He collected 279 career ground balls, including a team-high 155 during the 1984 season. He also totaled one goal and two assists for his career.
