Junior Running Back Named To Third Team

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior running back Chris Sullivan (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights) was recently named to the Associated Press Little All-America Football Team. He was a third team selection as an all-purpose runner.

The AP Little All-America Team recognizes players from across the country who compete in NCAA Division II and III. Sullivan is just the second W&L player to make the squad since the 1978 season and the first since Robert Hull '96 was named to the second team in 1995 as a defensive lineman.

The 5-foot-8, 165-pound Sullivan had a career season, leading Division III with 2,024 all-purpose yards (202.4 ypg). He rushed for 1,189 yards and eight touchdowns on a school-record 253 carries, caught 27 passes for 268 yards and another touchdown, returned 19 punts for 204 yards and returned 13 kicks for 347 yards and one touchdown. Following the season, Sullivan was also named First Team All-State (Roanoke Times and Virginia SID's), First Team All-ODAC and Third Team All-South Region.

Washington and Lee finished the 2001 season with a 5-5 overall record, 3-3 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. The Generals finished in a four-way tie for second place in the conference standings.
