BARNETT, KONTARGYRIS AND MOORE TO PLAY IN NORTH-SOUTH
GAME
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior men's lacrosse players Andrew
Barnett (Darien, Conn./Darien), Eric Kontargyris (Woodstock, Vt./Loomis
Chaffee) and John Moore (Bel Air, Md./John Carroll) have been selected
to participate in the North-South All-Star game held June 8 at Johns Hopkins
University in Baltimore, Md. Barnett, an attackman, earned First Team All-ODAC honors this season
after placing second on the team in scoring with 47 points on 33 goals
and 14 assists. He graduates with 118 career points on 75 goals and 43
assists. His 118 points rank 23rd on the W&L all-time scoring list.
Barnett is a preseason All-America selection. Kontargyris, a defenseman, garnered First Team All-ODAC honors this season
after spearheading a defense which ranked in the Top 5 in Division III
in scoring defense (5.95 gpg). He was a Second Team All-ODAC selection
in 2001 and earned Honorable Mention All-America honors. Moore, a midfielder, was fourth on the team in scoring in 2002, claiming
24 goals and 13 assists for 37 points. For his career, Moore totaled 78
points on 52 goals and 26 assists. Washington and Lee finished its 2002 season with a 14-4 overall record and a No. 5 ranking in the final USILA Division III poll. The Generals advanced to the NCAA Semifinals before falling to top-ranked Gettysburg, 12-8, on Saturday afternoon. -- GENERALS --
