2001 W&L Graduate Among 97 Division III Players Honored

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Liz Borges (Winchester, Mass./Winchester), a 2001 W&L graduate, was recently named to the 2001 Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Squad.

Borges was one of 184 Division I, II and III women's lacrosse players honored. Stipulations for the award indicate that the player must be a starter or important reserve on their team, be a junior or senior in class standing and have a minimum grade-point average of 3.20.

Borges, a psychology and pre-med double major, also earned Second Team Verizon Academic All-District, Second Team Brine/IWLCA All-America and First Team All-ODAC honors earlier in the year.

Borges led W&L's offense, which ranked 19th in Division III in scoring, with 45 goals and 14 assists for 59 points. She scored 105 goals and added 41 assists for 146 career points which is fourth all-time at Washington and Lee. She helped lead the Generals to a 15-4 overall record, the best in school history.
