QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS FROM THE CERINO PRESS CONFERENCE

QUESTION: What was it that drew you to Washington and Lee?

ANSWER: I have been involved with the NCAA committee for many years and had the opportunity to meet with several members of the administration at Washington and Lee. I've worked with Mike Walsh, Chuck O'Connell and Jim Stagnitta in the past and feel the staff at Washington and Lee is extremely dedicated. It's an outstanding campus and the athletics are great. They play the game how I want to play it and have very dedicated players who give a lot of energy on the field.

QUESTION: What kind of changes do you plan on making to the program?

ANSWER: I have come into a situation where there is not much broken because things are already going in the right direction. Jim has done a wonderful job with the program in terms of recruiting and putting great players and teams on the field. I am looking forward to meeting the personnel and finishing business from the past.

QUESTION: Is the ultimate goal this season to win the NCAA Championship?

ANSWER: That will be one of the goals going into the season. I have already won a championship at Limestone so I know what it takes to win one. But first and foremost, I want to be successful. I want to field the best team that I can and play to the best of our abilities. I'm looking forward to playing in the ODAC and competing for the ODAC championship. It's a goal to get to the NCAA's because that's when you start a new season.

QUESTION:Are you excited to recruit at a school with such a great academic reputation?

ANSWER: It is something that I am looking forward to. I feel that it will be a great honor to walk into coaches and admissions offices at high schools and tell people that I am from Washington and Lee and have the opportunity to give their kids a great education and also play in a great lacrosse program.

QUESTION: Is there added pressure on you to win right away?

ANSWER: There is always pressure coming into a situation like this. However, I also just left a situation where I was expected to win. I feel that most of the pressure will come from the inside. I have already had some very encouraging meetings with the players and they are very energetic and eager to win. I have not been as rested as I am right now
at this time of the year. This is the most refreshed I have been in December and I look forward to taking this group to the next level.

QUESTION:Will the assistant coaches remain here with you?

ANSWER: Yes they will. It is a really unique situation because I am very familiar with both coach McCabe and coach Rife and it's one of the reasons I am here. I look forward to sitting down with them and going over the personnel for the upcoming season. They will be a very valuable group to me this season.

QUESTION:Why are you the right coach for Washington and Lee?

ANSWER: The timing is right for me. I have had success in the past, having won a national championship at Limestone. I feel that I have earned my stripes in winning the recruiting battles. I am very energetic and committed to getting the job done and doing the job right. I plan to be very aggressive in terms of recruiting and scheduling and taking the W&L
lacrosse program to the next level.

QUESTION:How will this job be different then the job you encountered at Limestone?

ANSWER: I created the history at Limestone and here, I plan to continue the great history that this program has built in the past. At Limestone, I designed the logo and our shorts. It was whatever I envisioned it to be. At Washington and Lee, I plan to live up to the history that has already been made at one of the most famous small programs in the entire
country.

QUESTION:What do you have to do to make people forget about Coach Stagnitta and make your mark?

ANSWER: First and foremost, I have to win. But I hope people never forget about Coach Stagnitta and all of the other great coaches this program has seen. I know it will not be easy to forget Jim and all the great things he did at Washington and Lee. I hope to build upon the legacy which has already been created at Washington and Lee and tap into all the great history we have seen in the past. It's a great honor to be the next lacrosse coach at Washington and Lee and I look forward to working with one of the top programs in the entire country and adding my own chapter to the storied history at Washington and Lee.
