W&L MEN'S LACROSSE HOSTS WIDENER IN NCAA FIRST
ROUND LEXINGTON, Va. -- The NCAA announced the 2002 Division III Men's Lacrosse
Tournament pairings on Sunday evening and the Washington and Lee received
the third seed in the South Region bracket. The Generals (12-3) will host
Widener University (12-3) on Wednesday afternoon in the opening round.
The game time will be determined on Monday morning. Widener received the automatic bid from the Middle Atlantic Conference
following a 9-8 win over Lycoming in the finals of the MAC Tournament
on Saturday. Should W&L defeat Widener, it would face the winner of the game between
second-seeded Washington College and Cabrini College in the NCAA Quarterfinals
on May 11. If Washington wins that contest, the game would be played in
Chestertown, Md. The Old Dominion Athletic Conference claims two teams in the tournament
as league runner-up Hampden-Sydney received an at-large bid and will host
Salisbury University. Below is the bracket for the 2002 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Tournament: North South -- GENERALS --
