ALL-ODAC WOMEN'S SWIMMING TEAM ANNOUNCED
Six W&L Swimmers Earn All-ODAC Accolades
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference
women's swimming team was released on Friday afternoon and Washington
and Lee had six individuals honored.
Junior Blair Huffman (Roanoke, Va./North Cross) earned her third consecutive
selection to the all-conference squad after leading the Generals to their
ninth-straight ODAC/Atlantic States Championship. She was named the Atlantic
States Swimmer of the Meet for the second-straight year after capturing
three individual titles. Huffman's winning time of 4:43.62 in the 400
Individual Medley set meet and school records.
Junior Kelli Austin (Niles, Mich./Niles) also makes her third straight
appearance on the All-ODAC squad after claiming two second-place finishes
at the ODAC Championships. Austin was W&L's top sprint swimmer this
season as she recorded team-best times in the 50 Free (25.85), 100 Free
(56.20) and 200 Free (1:59.68).
Senior Laura Ingoldsby (McLean, Va./Holy Child) garnered All-ODAC honors
for the third time in her career after recording two second place tallies
at the conference championship meet. An All-ODAC performer in 1999 and
2000, Ingoldsby swam team-best times in the 500 Free (5:30.22), 1000 Free
(11:26.85) and 1650 Free (19:08.97).
Sophomore Mandi Kimble (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro Day School) earned
a repeat selection on the squad after claiming second place finishes in
the 100 Back (1:04.68) and 200 Back (2:17.38) at the ODAC/Atlantic States
Championships for the second consecutive season.
Freshmen Laura Westerman (Bethlehem, Pa./Liberty) and Eleanor Williams
(Metairie, La./Isidore Newman) rounded out W&L's selections to the
All-ODAC team. Westerman tallied a fourth place finish in the 200 Individual
Medley with a personal-best time of 2:20.27 at the ODAC Championships,
while Williams claimed third place finishes in the 100 Back (1:04.68)
and 200 Back (2:20.49).
W&L concluded the 2001-02 campaign with an overall record of 8-5,
4-0 in the ODAC.
