Junior Offensive Lineman Repeats After Second Team Selection in 2000

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior offensive lineman Mat Rapoza (Kill Devil Hills, N.C./Manteo) has been named to the All-America squad as a member of the first team.

Rapoza receives the honor after garnering second team accolades from the website last season as a member of the Swarthmore College football team.

Rapoza transferred to W&L after Swarthmore dropped its football program and helped a young W&L offense average 331.0 yards per game, including 182.5 yards per game on the ground. The Generals' offensive line surrendered just 10 sacks in 276 passing situations.

Rapoza has already been named First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic Conference and Second Team All-Region for the 2001 season. He was among seven players from the ODAC honored on the first, second, third or honorable mention teams. He was joined on the first team by Bridgewater senior running back Davon Cruz and Guilford junior return man Chris McKinney.

Washington and Lee finished the 2001 season with a 5-5 overall record, 3-3 in the ODAC. The Generals finished in a four-way tie for second place in the ODAC.
