RUCKERT NAMED TO ALL-REGION VOLLEYBALL TEAM LEXINGTON, Va. -- Senior middle blocker Lindsay Ruckert
(Metairie, La./Sacred Heart) was named to the American Volleyball Coaches
Association (AVCA) All-South Region Team that was announced on Wednesday
afternoon. Ruckert was one of 12 players honored on the team and
the first volleyball player in W&L history to earn all-region honors.
Her name is now placed on the national ballot for All-America consideration. Ruckert is a four-time First Team All-Old Dominion Athletic
Conference (ODAC) and three-time ODAC Player of the Year honoree. She
was named to the All-ODAC Tournament team for the fourth straight year,
earning Tournament MVP honors for the third time. She led the Generals
in 2001 after totaling a school- and ODAC-record 466 kills. She also
amassed 72 aces, 47 blocks and 288 digs. Ruckert ends her career as the W&L all-time leader
in kills (1,519), hitting percentage (.323), attacks (3,464), service
aces (202) and games played (424). Her career kill total is also an
ODAC record. Washington and Lee ended the 2001 season with a school-record 30 wins against just five losses. The Generals won the ODAC regular season with a 10-0 mark and won the ODAC Tournament Championship. W&L then advanced to the NCAA Division III South Region semifinals before falling to 11th-ranked Emory University. -- GENERALS -- |
