MICHAEL HANSON NAMED TO ALL-AMERICA BASEBALL TEAM
ALLIANCE, Ohio -- Washington and Lee senior shortstop Michael
Hanson (Atlanta, Ga./Pace Academy) was named to the ABCA/Rawlings Division
III All-America baseball team which was released on Friday morning. Hanson was placed on the third team, making him just the
second baseball player in W&L history to have earned All-America honors.
Hanson joins Thad Ellis '82, who garnered Third Team All-America honors
following the 1980 season. The 2003 Old Dominion Athletic Conference Player of the
Year, Hanson earned Second Team All-ODAC honors his first two seasons
before garnering first team honors each of the past two campaigns. This season, Hanson batted .371 with five home runs, 12
doubles, 23 RBIs, 14 stolen bases and a school-record 46 runs. A career .360 hitter, Hanson will graduate as W&L's all-time leader in games played (136), at-bats (519), hits (187), runs (148), doubles (43), triples (13) and stolen bases (51). The Generals' leadoff hitter, he finished his career having reached base in 74 straight games dating back to April of 2001. -- GENERALS -- |
