PETER DEAN EARNS ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT LAURELS
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Junior pitcher Peter Dean (Vienna, Va./James
Madison) was named to the 2003 Verizon Academic All-District College Division
Baseball team which was announced on Thursday. He was a first team honoree. A pre-med major, Dean carries a 3.61 cumulative grade-point
average. This season Dean posted an 8-2 mark on the mound for the
Generals. He led the team in wins (8), ERA (1.67), strikeouts (73) and
innings pitched (80.2). A First Team All-Old Dominion Conference Selection,
Dean is currently W&L's all-time leader in ERA (2.14) and his 20-5
record leaves him just three wins shy of tying the all-time program mark. The Generals won a school-record 28 games (against just
eight losses) this season and finished as the runner-up in the ODAC Tournament. The Verizon Academic All-District team includes players
from small colleges in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia
and Florida. Dean moves onto the national ballot and could earn Verizon
