TWO GENERALS NAMED TO ALL-ODAC MEN'S SOCCER TEAM
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Old Dominion Athletic Conference announced the
2002 All-ODAC men's soccer team on Tuesday and Washington and Lee had
two players honored.
Senior forward Brad Murphy (Mantoloking, N.J./Christian Brothers Academy)
was named to the Second Team All-ODAC squad, while senior defender Paul
Negron (Massapequa Park, N.Y./St. John The Baptist) was named to the Honorable
Mention All-ODAC team.
Murphy started 18 of the team's 19 matches, leading the Generals in scoring
with 21 points on eight goals and five assists. A First Team All-ODAC
selection last season, Murphy finished his career with 24 goals and 11
assists for 59 points.
Negron started 17 of the team's 19 games and was a key cog for the Generals'
defense which allowed an average of just 1.49 goals per game. Negron earned
Second Team All-ODAC honors following the 2000 season.
Washington and Lee finished the 2002 season with an 8-9-2 overall record,
5-4 in the ODAC. The Generals advanced to the ODAC Tournament Semifinals
before falling to Randolph-Macon, 2-0.
