SULLIVAN NAMED A FINALIST FOR THE GAGLIARDI TROPHY

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- The J-Club of Saint John's University announced
its 10 finalists for the Gagliardi Trophy on Tuesday afternoon. Washington
and Lee senior running back Chris Sullivan (San Antonio, Texas/Alamo Heights)
is among the 10 selections.
The Gagliardi Trophy was established in 1993 to recognize the Division
III Outstanding Football Player of the Year. The 2002 award will be presented
on Thu., Dec. 19 at noon in conjunction with the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl
activities in Salem, Va.
Sullivan was named First Team All-ODAC in 2002 after leading the Old Dominion
Athletic Conference in rushing (1,123 yds.) and ranking 13th in Division
III in all-purpose yards (1,753). A preseason First Team All-America selection
by Lindy's College Football Preview, Sullivan earned First Team All-ODAC
and Third Team AP Little All-America honors last season after leading
Division III with 2,024 all-purpose yards.
For his career, Sullivan finished as the W&L record-holder in rushing
yards (3,140) and all-purpose yards (5,931).
Sullivan is W&L's second finalist in the last seven years as defensive
lineman Robert Hull was named a finalist in 1996.
