W&L GOLF RANKED 16TH IN PRESEASON DIVISION III
POLL NORMAN, Okla. -- The Washington and Lee golf team received
a No. 16 preseason ranking in the Division III Precept Coaches Poll released
by the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Generals finished the fall season with a 301.1 stroke
average over nine rounds and are led by sophomore Ged Johnson (Darien,
Conn./Taft School), who recorded a 74.6 stroke average. Junior Chip Campbell
(Memphis, Tenn./Memphis Univ. School) kept pace with Johnson, claiming
a 74.7 stroke average. Methodist College sits atop the poll and is followed by
Wisconsin Eau-Claire, Oglethorpe, Guilford, Greensboro, Saint John's,
Ohio Wesleyan, Central College, Emory, Wesley, Mary Hardin-Baylor, Nebraska
Wesleyan, Savannah Art & Design, Averett, Otterbein and W&L. Fellow ODAC-members Roanoke, Hampden-Sydney, Bridgewater
and Virginia Wesleyan are among the schools receiving votes. Washington and Lee begins its spring portion of the schedule
at the Pfeiffer Pine Needles Invitational in Southern Pines, N.C., on
