W&L GOLF MOVES UP IN GOLFSTAT RANKINGS LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee golf team continues
to move up in the GolfStat Division III Rankings. The Generals are tied
for eighth following their performance in the Pfeiffer/Pine Needles Invitational. Wisconsin-Eau Claire holds the top spot, followed by Methodist,
Oglethorpe, Guilford, Greensboro, St. John's (Minn.) and Averett. The
Generals are tied with Ohio Wesleyan and Redlands (Calif.). Several individuals are also ranked among the top in Division III. Senior Chip Campbell (Memphis, Tenn./Memphis University School) is ranked second nationally in Par 3 scoring (2.98) and eighth in putts on green (1.872). Sophomore Carlos Spaht (Baton Rouge, La./Episcopal) ranks
second in putts on green (1.815), while sophomore Ged Johnson (Darien,
Conn./Taft School) ranks sixth in Par 5 scoring (4.97) and freshman Tom
Borda (Northville, Mich./Northville) ranks seventh in total short game
(.570). The Generals will try to improve upon their rankings as
they return to the links on March 21-23 at the Golden Isle Invitational
