THREE W&L WOMEN'S LACROSSE PLAYERS EARN IWLCA ACADEMIC
HONORS
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior attacker Leslie
Bogart (Wilton, Conn./Wilton), senior defender Sarah Janowitz (Bel Air,
Md./C. Milton Wright) and junior goalkeeper Joanna Perini (Huntington,
N.Y./Huntington) were among 127 players named to the Intercollegiate Women's
Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Roll. Additionally,
W&L was among 32 squads recognized for achieving a team GPA of 3.00
or greater. Bogart was an English major who graduated with a 3.515 grade-point
average. She finished the 2003 season second on the team in scoring with
66 points on 23 goals and 43 assists en route to earning Second Team All-ODAC
accolades. Bogart finished her career tied for the W&L scoring record
with 230 points on and 94 goals and a school-record 136 assists. Janowitz, also an English major, graduated with a 3.349
GPA. The 2003 ODAC Player of the Year, she garnered First Team All-South
and Second Team All-America honors from the IWLCA this season. Janowitz
tallied one assist and was the spearhead of a W&L defense which allowed
an average of just 6.83 goals per game. Perini is a psychology and public policy major who carries
a 3.459 GPA. A First Team All-ODAC and IWLCA Second Team All-South selection
in 2003, she posted a 6.90 goals-against average and a .541 save percentage. Washington and Lee completed the 2003 season with a 15-3
overall record. The Generals, who tied the school record for wins in a
season and set a record for consecutive wins (15), won the ODAC title
and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament. -- GENERALS -- |
