CONNERS, MELANSON AND WEBER TO PLAY IN NORTH-SOUTH GAME
Game to be Held June 7 at Sacred Heart University

Senior Midfielder Tommy Melanson

BALTIMORE, Md. -- Washington and Lee senior men's lacrosse players Matt Conners (Burke, Va./Robinson), Tommy Melanson (Baltimore, Md./Loyola) and Noah Weber (Yorktown, N.Y./Yorktown) have been selected to participate in the North-South All-Star game held June 7 at Sacred Heart University in Fairfield, Conn.

The selections marked the ninth straight year that W&L will have a player participate in the game and the third consecutive year that the Generals have had the maximum of three players selected.

A defenseman, Conners earned Second Team All-ODAC honors in 2003 after posting First Team All-ODAC and Third Team All-America accolades as a junior. He collected 55 ground balls and was a major factor in W&L's defense ranking fifth in Division III (5.93) in scoring defense this season.

Melanson, a midfielder, earned Honorable Mention All-ODAC honors this season after garnering second team laurels in 2002 and first team accolades in 2001. A two-time Honorable Mention All-American, Melanson ended his career as the W&L leader in faceoffs taken (1080), faceoff wins (719) and faceoff percentage (.666). He has also tallied 35 career points on 26 goals and nine assists.

Weber, also a defenseman, started all 14 games en route to earning First Team All-ODAC honors this season. Like Conners, he was a major contributor to the W&L defense which finished among the national leaders in goals-allowed per game.

Washington and Lee finished its 2003 season with a 9-5 overall record and a No. 11 ranking in the final USILA Division III poll.
