W&L WOMEN'S LACROSSE RANKED 14TH IN PRESEASON
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's lacrosse team has received
a No. 14 ranking in the IWLCA NCAA Division III preseason poll which was
announced on Wednesday morning. Defending national champ Middlebury earned the preseason No. 1 spot,
followed by Amherst, The College of New Jersey, William Smith, St. Mary's,
Williams, Mary Washington, Gettysburg, Union, Cortland, Ithaca, Rowan,
Drew and Washington and Lee. The top 20 is rounded out by Colby, Franklin
& Marshall, Ursinus, Salisbury, Bates and Bowdoin. Last season the Generals compiled an 11-6 record overall, 7-1 in the
ODAC. They reached the ODAC title game before dropping a 12-11 decision
to Randolph-Macon in overtime. W&L welcomes back two Second Team All-South Region performers, senior
attacker Leslie Bogart (Wilton, Conn./Wilton) and senior defender Sarah
Janowitz (Bel Air, Md./C. Milton Wright). Bogart and Janowitz, along with
junior midfielder and Second Team All-ODAC honoree Kelly Taffe (Charlottesville,
Va./Albemarle), will lead the Generals as they aim for their first appearance
in the NCAA Tournament since the 2001 season. W&L will get its 2003 season underway on Thu., Feb. 27, when it plays
