PROKO AND HAGERMAN TO VIE FOR SINGLES AND DOUBLES TITLES
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Two Washington and Lee women's tennis
players, senior Erika Proko (Charlotte, N.C./Providence Day) and sophomore
Lindsay Hagerman (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park), were selected to participate
in the NCAA Division III singles and doubles championships. Seeded first in doubles, Proko and Hagerman, who are 28-1
this season and ranked No. 1 in the country, will face a duo from Pomona-Pitzer,
Kelli Howard and Whitney Henderson, in Saturday's opening round. In singles
action, Hagerman, the sixth seed, will face Tufts' Rebecca Bram, while
Proko, seeded eighth, will square off with Cal Lutheran's Jen Hansen,
also on Saturday. Proko, the 2003 ODAC Player of the Year, is currently 24-4
in singles action this season. A three-time All-American, Proko is currently
rated No. 9 in singles in Division III by the ITA. Hagerman, an All-America honoree as a freshman, carries
a 23-3 singles mark. She is ranked sixth by the ITA. Washington and Lee (24-2) finished its season as the Division III runner-up, falling in the championship match, 5-1, to Emory on May 16. -- GENERALS -- |
