Second-Year Head Coach Led Generals To First-Ever NCAA Tournament

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Head Women's Soccer Coach Neil Cunningham was voted the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/Adidas NCAA Division III South Region Coach of the Year.

In his two years at the helm of the women's soccer program at W&L, Cunningham has guided the Generals to a 28-6-4 (.790) mark overall. The 28 wins are the most in any two-year stretch in team history. In his eight years as a women's head coach at both Washington and Lee and Savannah College of Art & Design, Cunningham has compiled a 90-35-9 (.705) record overall.

W&L wrapped up the 2002 season with a school-record 17 wins against two losses and three ties. The Generals rode a 20-game unbeaten streak to their first ODAC Championship and first berth in the NCAA Tournament where they advanced to the NCAA South Region semifinals.
