W&L's JAN HATHORN NAMED SOUTH ATLANTIC REGION COACH
OF THE YEAR
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee head women's lacrosse
coach Jan Hathorn has been named the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse
Coaches Association (IWLCA) Division III South Atlantic Region Coach of
the Year in voting conducted by the association's members. Amherst's Chris
Paradis was named the IWLCA National Coach of the Year after claiming
the Division III National Championship. The honor marked the second time in the last three years
that Hathorn has been awarded the region coach of the year award. She
was tabbed in 2001 after leading the Generals to a 15-4 overall record. The 2003 season was a banner one for the Generals, posting
a 15-3 overall record, an ODAC Championship and a berth to the NCAA Tournament.
The 15 wins tied the 2001 team for the most in school history and all
were in succession, another school record. For her efforts, Hathorn was
also named the ODAC Coach of the Year. In her 15 seasons at the helm, Hathorn has recorded a 161-77
(.677) record at W&L. Her teams have claimed five ODAC titles and
have advanced to the NCAA Tournament on four occasions. Prior to arriving
at W&L, Hathorn spent five seasons at the head coach at Denison. Her
career record stands at 216-96 (.692) over 20 seasons. -- GENERALS -- |
