W&L WOMEN'S SOCCER EARNS BERTH IN NCAA TOURNAMENT
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's soccer team will face
Greensboro College in a first round match in the NCAA South Region Tournament
on Wednesday afternoon at 1:00 pm on the Liberty Hall Fields.
The winner of the match will advance to the regional semifinal to face
the University of Texas at Dallas in Dallas, Texas on Saturday.
Trinity (Texas) was awarded the region's top seed and a first-round bye.
It will face the winner of Savannah College of Art & Design and Emory
University on Saturday.
The 14th-ranked Generals earned an automatic bid to the tournament after capturing their first ODAC Championship on Saturday afternoon. W&L battled Lynchburg to a 0-0 tie through 90 minutes of regulation and two 10-minute sudden-victory overtimes before laying claim to the conference title by holding a 5-4 advantage in penalty kicks. Entering the NCAA's, the Generals' overall record stands at 15-1-4. The 15 wins is the most in program history.
