W&L LACROSSE TEAMS RANKED IN US LACROSSE POLLS
BALTIMORE, Md. -- The Washington and Lee men's and women's
lacrosse teams are both ranked in the Top 10 of the Lacrosse Magazine
Preseason Division III Polls announced by US Lacrosse on Friday afternoon. The W&L men's team is ranked sixth nationally, while
the women's squad is ranked 10th in Division III. The Generals' men's team finished 9-5 overall, 4-2 in the
ODAC last season. W&L dropped four games by one goal and advanced
to the ODAC Championship game where it was defeated by Lynchburg, 6-5,
in overtime. The Generals return seven starters and each of its top four
scorers from a season ago. Senior goalie Ansel Sanders (Weems, Va./Woodberry
Forest) also returns after earning Honorable Mention All-America honors
a season ago. The W&L women posted a 15-3 overall record, won the
ODAC Championship and advanced to the NCAA Tournament last season. The
Generals welcome back nine starters, including a pair of 2003 First Team
All-ODAC selections in senior attacker Kelly Taffe (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle)
and senior goalie Joanna Perini (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington). Below is the entire Lacrosse Magazine men's and women's Division III polls:
