PERINI EARNS INSIDE LACROSSE WEEKLY HONOR
Senior Goalie Named Honorable Mention Player of the Week
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior goalie
Joanna Perini (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) has been named an Inside
Lacrosse Division III Honorable Mention Player of the Week, for the
week of April 26.
Perini earned the honor after leading the Generals to their second straight
Old Dominion Athletic Conference title last week. On Wednesday, she blanked
Bridgewater in 26:00 minutes of play as W&L cruised to a 20-1 win
in the ODAC quarterfinals, and notched seven saves in a 14-3 victory over
Randolph-Macon in the conference semifinals on Saturday.
In the ODAC championship on Sunday, Perini made 12 stops in goal as the
Generals edged Virginia Wesleyan, 11-9, for conference crown. On the season,
she has posted a 6.42 goals against average and made 140 saves for a .593
save percentage.
The Generals return to action in the NCAA Division III Tournament at a
site, time and date yet to be determined, against an opponent yet to be
determined.
