LEXINGTON, Va. -- Three members of the Washington
and Lee women's soccer team were recognized on the National Soccer Coaches
Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-South Region team.
Junior defender Kelley Zagol (Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) earned her second-straight
appointment to the first team, while senior defender Meghan Hayde (Massapequa,
N.Y./St. Anthony's) and senior forward Fontaine Marcoux (Washington, D.C./Potomac)
were both named to the second team.
Zagol, a three-time all-conference selection and First Team All-ODAC honoree
this season, was instrumental in helping lead W&L to a program-record
0.49 goals against average in 2003.
Hayde, who was tabbed Third-Team All-South Region last season, moves up
to the second team this season for her contributions on defense. Also
a three-time all-conference selection and First Team All-ODAC player this
season, she concludes a career that saw her playing in all 76 possible
matches and starting 73 times.
Marcoux was named to the second team after scoring seven goals and leading
the Generals with nine assists this season. The three-time all-conference
selection was named First-Team All-ODAC and ends her career as the program's
all-time leader for assists in a season (12) and assists in a career (36),
and ranks second all-time for points in a career (110).
W&L wrapped up its season with a 15-2-3 overall record and a 9-1-1
mark in the ODAC. The Generals won their second-straight ODAC title and
advanced to the NCAA South Region championship match for the first time
in school history.
