ALL-ODAC FIELD HOCKEY TEAMS ANNOUNCED
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Three members of the Washington and Lee
field hockey team were honored as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference
announced its' all-conference team on Tuesday afternoon. Senior forward Kelly Taffe (Charlottesville, Va./Albemarle)
was named to the first team, while junior midfielder Kitt Murphy (New
York, N.Y./St. Catherines (Va.)) was named to the second team. Sophomore
midfielder Jane Beall (Richmond, Va./James River) was an honorable mention
selection. Taffe earned first team accolades after being an honorable
mention selection last season and a second team pick as a sophomore. She
started all 19 games, finishing third in the conference with a school-record
19 goals. Her 38 points were also a W&L season record and placed fifth
in the ODAC. Taffe finishes her career as the school record holder for
goals in a game (3), goals in a season (19), goals in a career (34), points
in a game (6), points in a season (38) and points in a career (72). Murphy was tabbed as a second team pick after garnering
first team honors a season ago. She played in 19 games with 18 starts
and finished the season fourth on the team with 11 points on four goals
and three assists. Beall garnered honorable mention laurels after leading
the team with six assists. A starter in 18 of the team's 19 games, her
nine goals and 24 points were second on the team behind Taffe. Washington and Lee finished the season with a 10-9 overall
record, 6-3 in the ODAC. The Generals were the third seed for the ODAC
Tournament, advancing to the semifinals before falling to eventual-champion,
