COLEMAN NAMED COSIDA WOMEN'S SOCCER ACADEMIC ALL-AMERICAN
W&L Midfielder Named To The Third Team

LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee senior midfielder
Heather Coleman (Blackwood, N.J./Triton Regional) was named to the CoSIDA
Women's Soccer Academic All-America team on Wednesday as voted on by members
of the College Sports Information Directors of America.
Coleman, who was appointed to the third team, became eligible for the
award after she was named First Team CoSIDA Academic All-District.
An economics and politics major with a 4.071 grade-point average (GPA),
Coleman was a three-year letterwinner for the Generals, playing in 75
of a possible 76 games in her career. She recorded two goals and three
assists this season and leaves W&L with 18 goals and nine assists
for her career, ranking eighth all-time at W&L with 44 points.
Coleman's appointment to the CoSIDA Academic All-America team marks the
first W&L women's soccer player named to the team, the fifth-straight
year a General has been named Academic All-America and the 34th time a
W&L athlete has received the honor since 1975.
The criteria for the CoSIDA Academic All-America program states that a
player must be of sophomore academic standing, be a starter or important
reserve and claim a GPA of at-least 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Washington and
Lee is a member of District III, including players from small colleges
in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia and Florida.
