W&L ATHLETICS RECEIVES COMMUNITY SERVICE AWARD ROCHESTER, N.Y. -- The National Association of Division
III Athletic Administrators has announced its NADIIIAA/Jostens Community
Service Awards and Washington and Lee University was among the schools
cited. W&L received an "Award of Merit" for its'
athletes' contributions to the campus and local community during the 2002-03
academic year. Elmhurst College, the University of Massachusetts-Boston
and Pacific Lutheran University received the Community Service Awards
which carry a $1,000 contribution to the schools' general scholarship
funds. The University of Southern Maine, University of Wisconsin-Stout,
Westminster College, Clark University and the College of New Jersey join
W&L in receiving the merit awards. Middlebury College and the University
of Wisconsin-Platteville received honorable mention recognition. The awards will be presented at the NCAA Convention in Nashville,
Tenn., this coming January. The NADIIIAA is an association comprised of athletics administrators
from the over 400 institutions and conferences competing at the NCAA Division
III level. A primary purpose of the NADIIIAA is to encourage the continued
development of athletics programs focused on the student-athlete and based
