TWO W&L FOOTBALL PLAYERS EARN ALL-STATE HONORS
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Virginia Sports Information Director's
Association (VaSID) announced its College Division All-State Football
team on Friday afternoon. Washington and Lee senior offensive lineman
Scott Kucinski (Erie, Pa./Cathedral Prep) and senior defensive lineman
Brian Becker (Vienna, Va./Gonzaga) were both honored as first team selections. Kucinski adds the honor to Second Team All-ODAC accolades
from the 2003 season. A captain and starter in all 10 games, Kucinski
graduates having blocked for the top-two rushers in school history. He
was named W&L's offensive MVP in 2003. For his career, Kucinski was
named First Team All-ODAC and First Team All-State as a sophomore, and
Second Team All-ODAC and Honorable Mention All-State as a junior. Becker was an Honorable Mention All-ODAC selection in 2003.
Also a team captain, he had his best season in a Generals' uniform in
2003, totaling a career-high 60 tackles, including 12 stops for a loss.
He also recorded three sacks and forced a fumble on the season. Becker
earned Second Team All-ODAC honors each of his first three seasons and
was an Honorable Mention All-State pick as a sophomore. Hampden-Sydney sophomore quarterback JD Ricca was named
the Virginia College Division Player of the Year, while Bridgewater Head
Coach Michael Clark was chosen as the Coach of the Year. Washington and Lee finished the 2003 season with a 3-7 overall record, 1-5 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference. -- GENERALS -- |
