HANSON NAMED TO APPALACHIAN LEAGUE ALL-STAR BASEBALL
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Former Washington and Lee shortstop Michael
Hanson, class of 2003, was named to the 15-man Appalachian League All-Star
team which was announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Hanson tied with Pulaski's Jermy Acey for honors at second
base and was one of two players honored from the Danville Braves, joining
outfielder Matt Esquivel.
Hanson has played in 53 games for the Atlanta Braves' Single
A short season affiliate, batting .270 with 12 doubles, four triples and
two home runs. He has also recorded 19 RBI and eight stolen bases.
While playing at W&L, Hanson was a four-time All-ODAC
honoree and the ODAC Player of the Year as a senior when he earned Third
Team All-America honors. Hanson, a .360 career hitter for the Generals,
graduated holding 11 school records, including career games played (136),
career hits (187), career runs (148), career doubles (43), career triples
(13) and career steals (51).
The Danville Braves end their season on Monday, August
25 as they host the Martinsville Astros.
