THREE GENERALS TO PLAY IN MEN'S NORTH-SOUTH GAME
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Washington and Lee senior men's lacrosse
players Lawson Grumbine (Owings Mills, Md./Gilman), Dustin Martin (Manlius,
N.Y./Fayetteville-Manlius) and Ansel Sanders (White Stone, Va./Woodberry
Forest) have been selected to participate in the North-South Senior All-Star
game held at 12:00 pm on June 12 at Nazareth College. The selections marked the 10th-straight year that W&L
will have a player participate in the game and the fourth consecutive
year that the Generals have had the maximum of three players selected. A defenseman, Grumbine earned First Team All-ODAC honors
each of the past two seasons and is a preseason All-American selection.
He spearheaded a W&L defense which ranks among the Top 10 in Division
III, allowing just 6.78 goals per game. He scored two goals and collected
35 ground balls on the season. Martin, a midfielder, earned First Team All-ODAC honors
for the second straight season after totaling 43 points on 34 goals and
nine assists. An Honorable Mention All-American last season, he finished
his career with 116 career points, 26th all-time at W&L. A goalie, Sanders also earned First Team All-ODAC honors
for the second straight season after garnering second team accolades as
a sophomore. He ranked among the national leaders in goals-against average
(6.76) and claimed a .611 save percentage in 2004. An Honorable Mention
All-American last season, he finishes his career ranked fifth all-time
at W&L with 475 career saves and sixth all-time with a .605 save percentage. Washington and Lee finished its 2004 season with a 14-4
overall record. The Generals claimed the ODAC regular season and tournament
titles en route to advancing to the NCAA Division III Quarterfinals. W&L
