TWO GENERALS NAMED TO ALL-REGION SOCCER TEAM
Miller Selected to Second Team; Pirkle to Third Team

Junior Defender Peter Miller

MISSION, Kan. -- Washington and Lee junior defender Peter Miller (Towson, Md./Baltimore Lutheran) and junior midfielder Brian Pirkle (Lexington, Va./Woodberry Forest) have been named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America/adidas Division III All-South Region team which was announced on Friday morning.

Miller was named to the second team, while Pirkle was a third team pick.

Miller adds the award to First Team All-ODAC, First Team All-State and Second Team CoSIDA Academic All-District laurels from earlier this season. He started 16 games, captaining the Generals' defense which allowed an average of just 1.43 goals per game. Additionally, he posted two goals and one assist.

Pirkle was a Second Team All-ODAC selection in 2003 after leading the team in scoring with 18 points on eight goals and two assists. He started all 17 games, producing two game-winning goals.

Washington and Lee finished the 2003 season with a 7-6-4 overall record and a 3-4-2 mark in the ODAC. The Generals advanced to the ODAC Championship game before falling to Virginia Wesleyan, 3-1.
