W&L RIDING ADVANCES FIVE TO IHSA REGIONALS
Generals Ranked Third in Region

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee equestrian team has qualified five riders to the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA) Regionals held on Feb. 28 at Hollins University.

The Generals currently rank third in Zone IV, Region II, trailing only Hollins and Bridgewater in the standings.

Leading the way for W&L at the regional meet will be sophomore Caitlin Lane (Poolesville, Md./Poolesville), who is a two-time ODAC Rider of the Year and the 2004 Cacchione Cup Region Champion. Lane will compete in the open over fences and open flat events.

Joining Lane at regionals will be sophomore Katie Goodrich (Indianapolis, Ind./North Central), senior Sarah Michaels (Norfolk, Va./Norfolk Academy), senior Maria Syska (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) and junior Kathy Wang (Mechanicsburg, Pa./Kempner).

Goodrich will compete in the open flat, Michaels will take part in the novice over fences, Syska will complete in the advanced walk-trot-canter and Wang will participate in the walk-trot event.
