JOANNA PERINI NAMED WOMEN'S LACROSSE ALL-AMERICAN
BALTIMORE, Md. -- Washington and Lee senior goalkeeper Joanna
Perini (Huntington, N.Y./Huntington) has been named to the Intercollegiate
Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association/US Lacrosse All-America team which
was announced on Tuesday afternoon. Perini was named to the Third Team, marking the fourth straight
year that W&L has claimed an All-America selection. The selection to the All-America team was also the second
of Perini's career after she garnered US Lacrosse Honorable Mention All-America
laurels as a freshman in 2001. Perini was named the ODAC Player and Scholar-Athlete of
the Year in 2004, and posted First Team All-ODAC accolades for the second
straight season. A First Team IWLCA All-South Atlantic Region selection
this season, she logged the majority of the minutes in goal and made 140
saves. Her 6.42 goals-against average ranked in the Top 20 in Division
III, while her .593 save percentage ranked in the Top 15. She finishes
her career ranked second all-time at W&L in career saves (589) and
career save percentage (.613). Washington and Lee tied the school record for wins in a
season after notching a 15-4 overall mark and finishing 7-1 in the ODAC.
The Generals won the ODAC title and advanced to the NCAA Division III
Tournament for the second-straight season before falling to Gettysburg,
