LEXINGTON, Va. -- Seven members of the sixth-ranked Washington and Lee
women's soccer team were honored as the Old Dominion Athletic Conference
announced its all-conference team on Wednesday afternoon.
Senior forward Fontaine Marcoux (Washington, D.C./Potomac), senior defender
Meghan Hayde (Massapequa, N.Y./St. Anthony), junior defender Kelley Zagol
(Berwyn, Pa./Conestoga) and sophomore midfielder Kerry Giblin (Ho-Ho-Kus,
N.J./No. Highlands Reg.) all earned first team nods. Freshman forward
Anne Wiltshire (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) and freshman midfielder Rebecca
Cohn (Virginia Beach, Va./Norfolk Academy) were selected for the second
team, while sophomore defender Heather Rogers (Atlanta, Ga./Lovett School)
was an honorable mention selection.
Marcoux is making her third appearance as an All-ODAC honoree. She was
selected for the first team after scoring seven goals and leading the
Generals with nine assists this season. She is currently the program's
all time leader for assists in a season (12) and assists in a career (36),
and ranks second all-time for points in a career (110).
Hayde and Zagol are both three-time All-ODAC selections and were tabbed
as first team defenders after helping lead W&L to a program-record
0.49 GAA. Zagol has also added four goals and an assist to the Generals
offensive efforts.
Giblin garnered first team honors after leading the W&L midfield with
eight goals and 16 points.
Wiltshire earned her appointment to the second team after combining a
team-high 13 goals with seven assists for a squad-best 33 points. Cohn
also made the All-ODAC second team after she contributed five goals and
four assists on the season.
Rogers rounds out W&L's all-conference selections with an honorable
mention selection. In addition to her work as a defender, she scored one
goal and dished out four assists on the season.
The Generals are currently 15-1-2 overall and return to action on Saturday
when they host the NCAA South Regional Tournament. W&L advanced to
the NCAA tournament after winning its second-straight ODAC crown and the
automatic bid it carries. The Generals will face Greensboro (13-3-3) at
11:00 a.m.
