Hatchett, Northen, Murphy, and Beall Earn All-Conference Honors

LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee field hockey team was well represented with four players garnering a spot on the All-ODAC team, which was released on Friday afternoon.

Sophomore defender Rebecca Hatchett (Newport News, Va./Hampton Roads) and junior midfielder S.B. Northen (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) earned first team accolades while senior midfielder Kitt Murphy (New York, N.Y./St. Catherines) earned a spot on the second team. Junior midfielder Jane Beall (Richmond, Va./James River) was named Honorable Mention All-ODAC.

Hatchett has started 16 games and is a key member of the Generals' defense which has allowed just 1.6 goals per game and recorded five shutouts. Northen has played in 15 games and is tied for fourth on the team in scoring with 10 points on four goals and two assists. She has notched a pair of two-goal games this season.

Murphy has started all 17 games and is second on the team with 22 points on nine goals and four assists. She equaled a school record with three assists in an 8-0 win over Randolph-Macon Woman's College on Oct. 26. Murphy was Second Team All-ODAC as a junior, First Team All-ODAC as a sophomore and Honorable Mention All-ODAC as a freshman.

Beall, who was an Honorable Mention All-ODAC selection as a sophomore, has had a stellar season for W&L as she leads the team in points (31), goals (12) and assists (7) in 17 starts. She tied a school record with three goals in the 8-0 win over RMWC and has scored two goals in a game on two other occasions this season, including a pair of goals in a 4-2 win over Bridgewater in an ODAC Tournament quarterfinal game on Oct. 30.

W&L is currently 9-8 on the season and is the third seed in the ODAC Tournament. It will play second-seeded Virginia Wesleyan in the ODAC Tournament semifinals on Saturday at 2:30 pm at Lynchburg College.
