HOLLY SNYDER RESIGNS AS HEAD ATHLETIC TRAINER AT W&L
LEXINGTON, Va. -- Washington and Lee Athletic Director Mike
Walsh has announced that Holly Snyder, the Universitys head athletic
trainer, has resigned effective June 30 to pursue a career in elementary
"While I'm very excited about the opportunity to begin
the next chapter in my professional career, it's difficult to leave such
a tremendous situation as I've experienced at W&L," said Snyder.
"I've been blessed to have met some tremendous people in the student
body, faculty and administration at Washington and Lee and that leaves
me with a bittersweet taste. I will miss much about my experiences with
these people, but I believe this is the appropriate time to make a change."
Snyder arrived at Washington and Lee in the fall of 1998
as a graduate assistant athletic trainer while obtaining her masters
degree in athletic training from the University of Virginia. She was then
hired as the associate head athletic trainer at W&L in the summer
of 1999 and was promoted to head athletic trainer in August of 2002.
"It is with regret that we accept Hollys resignation,"
said Walsh. "She is an exceptional person who made a significant
contribution to our athletes, department and University. She will be missed
by all of us associated with W&L athletics and we wish her well as
she pursues a teaching career. "
A 1998 graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor of
science degree in kinesiology, Snyder served as a student assistant trainer
at Indiana University for three years prior to arriving at W&L.
An active member of the W&L community, Snyder has served
as an advisor to the Student Athlete Mentor Group (SAMS) and the Summer
Scholars Program. She is married to Washington and Lee Head Volleyball
Coach Bryan Snyder.
