Nine First Team Selections; Two Honorable Mention Picks

LEXINGTON, Va. -- After capturing their second consecutive Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championship, the Washington and Lee men's swimming team was rewarded by having 11 swimmers named to the All-BMC team. Nine Generals were named to the first team, while two were honorable mention picks.

The nine first team selections were senior Chris Colby (Ossining, N.Y./Archbishop Stepinac), juniors Reed Evans (Greensboro, N.C./Greensboro Day) and Clark Barrineau (Charlotte, N.C./South Mecklenburg), sophomores Michael Ginder (Jacksonville, Fla./Episcopal), Kevin Hayes (Mercer Island, Wash./Mercer Island) and David Croushore (Glen Allen, Va./North Penn), and freshmen Tim McGlaston (Attleboro, Mass./Attleboro), Stuart Frankfort (Lynchburg, Va./E.C. Glass) and Will Hartmann (Williamsburg, Va./Walsingham Academy).

Sophomores Ben Accinelli (Dubuque, Iowa/Hempstead) and Maxwell Pike (Goldsboro, N.C./Wayne Country Day) were named to the honorable mention squad.

Ginder was named co-swimmer of the meet at the BMC championships for the second straight season after winning three individual events and three relays. He captured the 50-yard freestyle in an NCAA “B” cut time of 21.18, won the 100-yard freestyle in an NCAA “B” cut time of 46.03, and claimed the 200-yard freestyle in a school-record and NCAA “A” cut time of 1:40.58.

The foursome of Hayes, Frankfort, Colby, and Ginder won the 400-yard medley relay (3:30.30), and the quartet of McGlaston, Evans, Frankfort, and Ginder captured the 400-yard freestyle relay (3:10.02) and the 200-yard freestyle relay in a school-record and NCAA “B” cut time of 1:24.37.

Barrineau won the 1000-yard freestyle (9:50.18) and the 1650-yard freestyle in an NCAA “B” cut time of 16:27.15, while Hayes took first in both the 200-yard IM (1:58.07) and 400-yard IM (4:15.32).

McGlaston took second in the 50-yard freestyle (21.57), while Frankfort was third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:00.86).

W&L finished the season with a 6-2 overall record and a No. 20 national ranking.
