FORMER W&L MEN'S LACROSSE PLAYER DRAFTED BY BALTIMORE
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- Former Washington and Lee men's lacrosse
player Tommy Melanson '03 was taken in the Major League Lacrosse Supplemental
Draft which was held at the US Lacrosse Convention last weekend in Philadelphia,
Melanson was selected in the 14th round by the Baltimore
Bayhawks. A native of Baltimore, Md., and a graduate of Loyola-Blakefield
were he now teaches and coaches lacrosse, Melanson was one of 12 Division
III players selected in the draft.
Melanson was a four-year letterwinner for the Generals, serving as a team captain his senior campaign. He twice earned Honorable Mention USILA All-America honors and finished his career ranked first in W&L history in career faceoff wins (719) and career faceoff winning percentage (.666). He also tallied 35 points on 26 goals and nine assists during his career.
