SEVEN GENERALS NAMED TO ALL-ODAC WOMEN'S SWIMMING TEAM
LEXINGTON, Va. -- The Washington and Lee women's swimming
team claimed its 12th straight ODAC Championship and had seven swimmers
named to the All-ODAC First Team. The seven selections were juniors Keturah Akida (Vincennes,
Ind./Lincoln) and Kristine Holda (Strongsville, Ohio/Strongsville), sophomore
Abbie Sauter (Darien, Conn./Darien) and freshmen Emma Axt (Edina, Minn./Edina),
Jess Cobb (Moorestown, N.J./Moorestown), Colette Moryan (Westfield, N.J./Mount
Saint Mary Academy) and Amy Roberson (Nacogdoches, Texas/Macogdoches). Holda claimed her third straight All-ODAC selection after
winning the 50-yard (25.40), 100-yard (55.23), and 200-yard (2:00.53)
freestyle events at the conference championship meet. Sauter, who earned All-ODAC honors for the second consecutive
season, captured the 200-yard breaststroke (2:29.83) and was second in
the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.88), while Cobb took first in the 100-yard
backstroke (1:02.28) and second in the 200-yard backstroke (2:16.26).
Axt finished third in both the 500-yard (5:29.32) and 1650-yard
(18:57.69) freestyles. Moryan placed second in the 100-yard butterfly
(1:02.65) and Akida, a two-time All-ODAC selection, was second in the
100-yard backstroke (1:04.09). Akida, Cobb, Sauter and Holda were victorious in the 200-yard
freestyle relay (1:42.77), while Cobb, Sauter, Holda, and Roberson placed
second in the 400-yard medley relay in a school-record time of 4:08.23.
W&L finished the season with an 8-6 overall record,
a 5-0 mark in the ODAC and a No. 23 national ranking. --GENERALS-- |
