WALTHAM, Mass. -- Recent Washington and Lee graduate Courtney Harrison (Richmond, Va./Collegiate) has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America At-Large team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). A first team selection, Harrison earned a degree in neuroscience and will attend medical school at Vanderbilt University in the fall. She is the first W&L athlete to earn First Team Academic All-America honors since former football player John Melillo received first team status in 2002. As the goalkeeper for the field hockey team, Harrison finished the 2005 season with a .735 save percentage and a 1.60 goals-against average. She received the ODAC Field Hockey Scholar-Athlete of the Year award and helped lead the Generals to a program-best 15-6 record, their first Old Dominion Athletic Conference title and accompanying NCAA Tournament berth. A four-year letterwinner, Harrison completed her career as the W&L record holder for saves in a game (16), saves in a season (76), career saves (248), career save percentage (.749), career goals-against average (1.74) and career shutouts (12). With Harrison’s selection to the ESPN/CoSIDA Academic All-America team, W&L improved its' all-time total to 41 athletes honored since 1975. The CoSIDA College Division consists of athletes from all NCAA Division II, III and NAIA schools across the United States. --GENERALS--
